My first flipped classroom experience: It was cool.

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by.

Today, I'm going to talk about my and Şilan's flipped classroom experience. We created an instructional video together for our students. You can reach her blog from here. The video that we created is embedded below. At the end of it, there will be a brief test for you.

First, let's talk about what flipped classroom is. A technique for teaching called "flipped classrooms" involves turning established teaching approaches inside out. In a flipped classroom, students interact with readings and lectures outside of class, usually by using videos or internet resources. Students can then apply and reinforce what they have learned on their own by participating in interactive, group activities, debates, and problem-solving during class time.

The flipped classroom model has several benefits and drawbacks. For language learners, the flipped classroom method has many benefits: tailored instruction, higher levels of engagement, availability of a wide range of materials, schedule flexibility, and instant feedback. In addition to enjoying a more adaptable and accommodating learning environment, students can study at their own speed and take part in interactive activities in class. Nevertheless, there are a number of difficulties, such as possible differences in student access to technology, problems with student responsibility, the lengthy preparation instructors must do, resistance to change, and the requirement for positive group dynamics during cooperative activities. It takes careful consideration of these issues and efficient implementation tactics to make the flipped classroom approach successful in language classes.

Setting up a flipped classroom approach for our students presented a significant challenge because none of us had any prior experience in this field. We struggled with it at first, but in the end, despite our inexperience, we managed to use the platform to create engaging and instructive video resources for our flipped classroom program. We both made the final editing and provided voices for the video. Our tool of choice for producing the educational video content was Animaker. Animaker is an online animation tool that comes with a customizable interface, pre-built themes, and tools for creating dynamic animated videos. It requires no technical knowledge and is frequently used for marketing, business, and educational presentations.
